The East Otago Show is run by the Palmerston & Waihemo A&P Assn., founded in 1865.
The Show is held at 31 Gilligan Street, Palmerston.
The show ground, a man-made amphitheater, is renowned for its scenic outlook and viewing terraces.
Our show is recognised for being family-friendly, with free entry for children under 16 years, and free children’s entertainment.
The Garden and Gallery (home industries sections)provides a great display and is keenly contested.
The equestrian schedule caters for riders and mounts at all levels of skill and experience, and offers a full range of garlands, sashes and prize ribbons, rosettes, and silver trophies.
Livestock sections include sheep, fleece, alpaca, llama, and donkeys.
Due to m. bovis, there are no cattle classes in 2019.
All the usual HOY qualifying sections are run. Both “Smartest on Parade” and the
equestrian “Champion of Champions” have a trophy and a garland to be won.
